Over time, the jawbone near missing teeth might become atrophied and reabsorbed, leaving poor bone quantity and quality. This makes it impossible to properly place a dental implant to replace the missing tooth.
The procedure involves obtaining bone from either a tissue bank or from elsewhere in your body—generally another part of the jaw, hip, tibia (below the knee), or sinus—and placing it at the site of the depleted jawbone.
Dental bone grafting is generally for patients who have experienced bone loss at the site of a missing tooth and no longer have enough bone in which to place a dental implant.
It can also be used to restore jawbone in patients who have experienced gum disease or injuries, and lost bone as a result.
We’re here to answer any questions or to help you get started with a consultation. Our office is conveniently located at 1177 Summer Street in Stamford, east of Washington Boulevard. Request an appointment now!
